Music OCLC Users Group: Call for Nominations (Board Positions)
The MOUG Nominating Committee seeks nominations for the offices of Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect; Treasurer-Elect; and Reference, Discovery, and Collection Coordinator. We will assemble a slate of candidates this summer for an election to be held in fall 2020. Terms of office will begin at the end of the MOUG annual meeting to be held in March 2021 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Below are brief descriptions of each office, paraphrased from the MOUG Bylaws and MOUG Handbook.
Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect: The person in this position serves as Vice-Chair/Chair Elect for one year; then will serve as Chair for two years, and as Past Chair for one year. Specific duties include updating the MOUG Handbook; handling outreach and publicity; and assisting with duties related to the Distinguished Service Award and the Ralph Papakhian Travel Grant. Additionally, the Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect assists with general supervision of the group, working on special projects assigned by the Chair, and acts as chief executive officer if the chair is unable to serve.
Treasurer-Elect: The person in this position serves as Treasurer-Elect for one year; then will serve as Treasurer for two years, and as Past Treasurer for one year. The Treasurer-Elect serves as understudy and assistant to the Treasurer, with the specific objectives of learning the Treasurer’s duties while Treasurer-Elect. Common duties include learning Excel, Quicken, and other financial software; becoming familiar with the function of 501(c)(3) organizations; and assisting with the process of renewal mailings, among others.
Reference, Discovery, and Collection Coordinator: The person in this position serves for a two-year term. The Reference, Discovery, and Collection Coordinator chairs and enlists members for the Reference, Discovery, and Collection Committee. Primary activities include investigating discovery, public, and collection service issues related to OCLC products and services. The Coordinator reports findings to MOUG as necessary, also serving in an advisory capacity to OCLC regarding suggestions for improvements or changes.
If you would like to nominate someone (including yourself) for any of these offices, or if you would like more information, please contact any of the committee members. For full consideration, please submit nominations by Friday, June 19, 2020. Candidates for office must be individual members of MOUG in good standing at the time the ballot is distributed.
