The MOUG Nominating Committee seeks nominations for the offices of Vice Chair/Chair-Elect, Treasurer-Elect, and Reference, Discovery, and Collection Coordinator. Term commitments for each position are described below. We will assemble a slate of candidates this summer for an election to be held in early fall. Terms of office will begin at the end of the MOUG annual meeting to be held in St. Louis, Missouri, in February 2019. Below are brief descriptions of each office, paraphrased from the MOUG Bylaws and MOUG Handbook.
Vice Chair-Chair Elect: The person in this position serves for one year as Vice Chair/Chair-Elect, for two years as Chair, and for one additional year as Past Chair. The Vice Chair-Chair Elect serves as a member of the MOUG Executive Board, and serves as Chair if the Chair is unable to serve. The Vice Chair-Chair Elect updates the MOUG Handbook and Bylaws, handles outreach and publicity not related to the annual meeting, and serves as liaison to the MOUG Web Editor and Social Media Coordinator.
Treasurer-Elect: The person in this position serves for one year as Treasurer-Elect, for two years as Treasurer, and for one additional year as Past Treasurer. The Treasurer-Elect serves as understudy and assistant to the Treasurer. During their term as Treasurer-Elect, the person in this position should become familiar with the following, in addition to other processes and policies: 501(c)(3) organizations; the MOUG Handbook; Excel, Quicken, or other financial software; and Membee membership software.
Reference, Discovery, and Collection Coordinator: The person in this position serves for two years. The Reference, Discovery, and Collection Coordinator (RDC Coordinator) serves as a member of the MOUG Executive Board. The RDC Coordinator also chairs the Reference, Discovery, and Collection Committee; investigates discovery, public service, and collection issues related to OCLC products and services; shares findings with the MOUG Board and membership; and serves in an advisory capacity to OCLC regarding improvement suggestions for OCLC products and services.
